The Toolkit
![]() |
The SPreaD toolkit is aimed at all regional, national and European institutions that finance, initiate or coordinate projects and initiatives to strengthen digital literacy. It supports them in evaluating, planning and managing large-scale digital literacy programmes.
The toolkit is based on six best practice projects that have already been successfully realised by the three partner institutions. Important factors for the success of digital literacy programmes as well as lessons learned were analysed and integrated in the English pilot version by January 2008.
From February 2008 interested network members had the opportunity to evaluate the preliminary version of the toolkit and contributed their own experiences. A wiki integrated in this website allowed them to add comments to the knowledge base and hence collaborate in formulating the SPreaD toolkit regardless of their European location. All network partners are invited to take advantage of this innovative knowledge process.
A printed version of the online guide is now published following a quality assurance process by the community of practice. You can order exemplars in all four languages by email or you can download it here.
