SPreaD - Strategic Project Management Tool-Kit for Creating Digital Literacy Initiatives
SPreaD is aimed at structuring and making available experiences from broad-based education programmes in the field of digital literacy in the business world and local communities. MFG Baden-Württemberg is developing a practical guide for this purpose together with experts from the Directorate General for Modernization of the Valencian Region (DGM) in Spain and the Centre for the Innovation of Education and Training (CINOP) in the Netherlands. It supports regional and national institutions regarding the design and implementation of large-scale digital literacy programmes.
The consortium established a Europe-wide network of experienced regional, national and European education partners to ensure the toolkit’s quality and optimise its dissemination. These partners will be urged to present the toolkit at joint regional events and increase awareness of it throughout Europe. From February 2008, interested network members had the opportunity to evaluate the preliminary version of the toolkit and contribute their own experiences. The SPreaD Wiki allows them to add comments to the knowledge base and hence collaborate in formulating the SPreaD toolkit regardless of their European location. All network partners are invited to take advantage of this innovative knowledge process.
The outcomes of the project analyses and the exchange of experiences are published as a practical toolkit in four languages – English, German, Spanish and Dutch. The toolkit subsequently serves as a detailed tool for managing future digital literacy initiatives. Since July 2008, following a quality assurance process by the community of practice, a printed version of the online toolkit that can be ordered or downloaded free of charge has likewise been published.
SPreaD is one of nine projects co-financed by the European Commission in the field of digital literacy in the framework of eLearning.
